Sheet Metal

Overview of Sheet Metal Processing

Sheet metal processing is an important process of forming sheet metal products, including the traditional methods and process parameters of cutting and lowering, punching and cutting processing, bending and pressing forming, etc., various cold stamping die structures and process parameters, various equipment working principles and manipulation methods, as well as new stamping technologies and new processes.

Sheet Metal Processing Notes

1. Reasonable choice of unfolding method, which should facilitate material saving and processability.

2. Reasonable choice of gap and edge wrapping method.

3. Reasonable consideration of tolerances and dimensions.

4. Pay attention to the direction of burr.

5. Pay attention to the direction of the position of the extraction, riveting, tearing, punching bump, etc., and draw a sectional view.

6. Check the material.

7. Special angle, bending angle radius (generally R = 0.5) to try to fold depending on the unfolding.

8. Easy-to-make mistakes (such as asymmetry) should focus on the tips.

9. The size of more places to add enlarged drawings.

10. Points that need to be protected by spraying should be marked.

Process of Sheet Metal Processing

Depending on the structure of the sheet metal parts, the process flow can be different, but in general, it includes the following points:

1. Material feeding: The main types of material feeding are as follows: shearing machine, punching machine, NC feeding, laser feeding, and sawing machine.

2. Clamping: Countersinking, tapping, reaming, drilling. The countersink angle is generally 120 ° for pulling rivets, 90 ° for countersunk head screws, and tapping imperial bottom holes.

3. Flanging: Also called hole extraction, hole turning, which is to draw a slightly larger hole in a smaller base hole and then tapping, mainly used for sheet metal processing with a relatively thin plate thickness to increase its strength and the number of thread turns.

4. Punching: This is the processing process of forming by using a mold. Generally, there are processing methods such as punching, cutting corners, dropping, punching bumps, punching tears, drawing holes, forming, etc. Its processing requires a corresponding mold to complete the operation, and the operation mainly pays attention to the position and directionality.

5. Press riveting: The main methods are press riveting nuts and screws, etc. The operation is completed by hydraulic press riveting machine or punching machine, which is riveted to the sheet metal parts, and the direction should be paid attention to.

6. Bending: Bending 2D flat parts into 3D parts. It also has a certain bending order. The principle is that the next knife does not interfere with the first bending, and will produce interference after the bending.

7. welding.
