Machined Keycap
I wanted to get a proof of concept/MVP prototype of my design made, so I decided to try out PCBWay's machining service. I submitted the part for quotation and received a price within 1 day. The price was pretty good all things considered. I went with a raw aluminum/stock finish and the standard ±.125mm tolerance. The lead time was good, there was a 14 day fabrication time, and a 3-7 day shipping time. I got regular updates from PCBWay via email (as well as a tracking number) and it arrived on time. The external surface finish of the part was alright, but there were a lot of scratches on the inside of the part. I am very disappointed about the large and visible scratches. I am concerned to order larger parts where these scratches and flaws can be a lot more noticeable. The stem also did not fit, sadly, but I think that has to do with the loose tolerance. Overall, the experience was good, but the internal flaws and scratches are very disappointing (I know I am not the only one facing this issue) and I would not want to order other parts in the future unless this issue is fixed.
